Batten The Breeze is one of Emerald Isle’s historic homes, sitting right on the Northern shore looking at Bogue Sound. It was featured in Our State magazine the year before Hurricane Florence hit. It was a good thing as the hurricane wreaked havoc on its interiors and was ready for a makeover. We needed to be mindful of its historic exterior while at the same time changing the way the house addressed both the street as well as its interior spaces, and above all connecting it to the water by maximizing its breathtaking water views.
